Hand-dried using two types of professional pet dryer (‘high velocity’ and ‘finishing’) to straighten coat for styling, ‘happy hoodies’ cuddle ears to reduce noise and foster a sense of calm, meticulous brushing and coat care finally triple checked with a fine tooth comb from head to tail, to ensure a knot-free finish.

All nails are checked meticulously, every time, clipped and then rounded with nail grinder if needed for a smoother, less ‘scratchy’ finish. Please note: some pups are highly sensitive in this area and results may vary proportionate to each pet’s comfort level.

Treatments are completed with a mist of Plush Puppy finishing spray and a colourful kerchief, with love from your pup’s groomer.

Double shampoo (at minimum) and conditioning treatment by hand, tailored to their coat with soothing massage, using show-standard product range by Plush Puppy. We minimise ear canal water exposure with gently placed cotton balls, use dedicated eye-area shampoo, and apply a tailored ear solution to ear leather for a deeper cleanse. Customised and freshly diluted products just for your pet’s bath and added loofah touch ensures superior results that penetrate right down to the skin for the best bath in the city.

For special dogs with significant or unique needs that go beyond our standard treatment offerings, we offer a customised approach on an hourly rate basis. This service is ideal for dogs that are aggressive, anxious, elderly, arthritic, have significant skin or health conditions, or require ‘end of life’ grooming, to name just some examples. Our senior groomers use their expertise and experience in behaviour management, specialised techniques, and compassionate handling to deliver the best groom possible in proportion to challenges, as guided by your dog on the day. This bespoke service reflects the skill and considerations required to undertake challenging grooms safely and humanely, as well as the additional risks for our grooming staff and space.

A gentle bath, blow dry, brush, and nail clip at your pup’s pace, as well as any minor yet necessary scissoring or clipping (such as clearing hair from the eyes or sanitary region), is included based on what your puppy comfortably allows on the day. For those short of nose and flat of face, we lovingly curated this specialist Bath and Blow treatment tailored to the distinct needs of our frequent visitors of the French/British Bulldog and Pug breeds, to name a few. Using dedicated Plush Puppy products—hypoallergenic, low foaming and with added anti-inflammatory benefits—we ensure a gentle yet effective cleansing process that reaches between the wrinkles, folds, and creases of these characteristic faces. Meticulous attention to breed is paid in handling, grooming technique and product use, to leave these pups refreshed, cleansed and comfortable.

Add Hand Stripping to any Best in Show treatment at $105 per hour as required per appointment. For example, if only 15 minutes of hand stripping is needed, only 15 minutes ($26.25) will be charged.

Very limited (1-2) daily places for dogs happy to hang with their favourite groomers beyond their grooming treatment. As well as regular love and stimulating conversation, all dogs receive a wellness check on arrival and freshening spritz of Plush Puppy’s Odour Muncher grooming spray.

Add-On Basics

Bringing your own shampoo and other grooming products for us to use means changing our methods and ultimately takes us longer from bathing, grooming to admin - hence the charge. Note, only applicable per dog, not per product you supply.

If your pup comes in severely matted, we may need to do a detailed and delicate full body shave to remove matting that is sitting close to the skin, carefully and slowly, using lots of different tools and techniques. This takes time and is almost like grooming your dog twice, which is why it is extra. The good news is, now you have found Barking Butler, it should be the last time it needs to happen!

If we find matting that cannot be removed relatively easily and in the course of our standard grooming practises, we will need to take extra time (and tools) to remove it. Although finding the odd knot and tangle is covered, de-matting is not included in the price of our regular grooming treatments and we charge accordingly to cover our increased staffing costs due to the extra time the groom will take.
