FAQ

  • Many people are surprised that most cats enjoy baths with us, this is due to correct handling and technique. In many cases, bathing is the part some cat prefer most out of the whole grooming experience! Bathing by a professionally trained cat groomer can significantly reduce matting, shedding and furballs as it removes dead coat, dander and oil build-up. Bathing also gives the best finish to a groom if your cat is being clipped and scissored!

  • The way to prevent matting is through regular brushing at home and regular visits to a professional salon. Bathing in a professional salon can significantly reduce matting, shedding and fur balls. We usually recommend our cat clients have an appointment booked at Barking Butler every 3 months maximum, for optimal coat and skin health.

  • Barking Butler sells groomer-endorsed, specialist cat (and dog) grooming tools you can take home and start using today. Simply ask your Barking Butler groomer at your next appointment for their personalised recommendation for your cat. We also provide a free brushing lesson to all clients to ensure the best results! Oh - and we sell top-quality cat treats if you think your fluffy deserves a special reward after their grooming appointment…

  • We care about your cat's safety and well-being and want to assure you that every effort will be made to make your cat's visit as pleasant as possible.

Cats are creatures of habit and when exposed to a new environment, they can occasionally experience elevated stress levels, but this is not always the case. We do not use sedation of any kind. In the event that your cat does start to show signs of elevated stress, we will halt the groom to allow your cat to calm down. If, after this rest, your cat still exhibits significant signs of stress when grooming is resumed, all procedures will stop and you will be notified immediately for pick up. Your caring Barking Butler cat groomer will then discuss the appointment with you and assist by suggesting next steps.

  • There is a saying…"Cats don't really groom themselves, they just cover themselves with spit and sleep on your pillow”…

  • We highly recommend getting your cat washed and/or groomed regularly to keep their coats clean, reduce parasitic infections and prevent matting and furballs. Prevention is much better than treatment, especially a de-matting procedure, as a cat's skin is much more delicate and fragile than a dog's skin. Every effort will be made to go slowly and safely, however, nicks are possible on extremely matted areas just as would happen if a Vet shaved your cat under anaesthetic.
