The Founders
In the heart of South Perth, where the scent of luxury grooming products mingle with the joyous barks of satisfied clients, you will find hard-working dog devotees, mother-daughter duo Lynnie and Charlotte Butler, the proud founders of Barking Butler Grooming Studio.
Their journey began not as seasoned groomers, but as dog owners on a quest to find a top-tier groomer for their cherished Havanese, Millie and Ginny, who now feature on the bespoke wallpaper in the studio, overseeing daily operations. Frustrated by the search for an available yet quality groomer in Perth, they decided to transform their passion into a service that supported like-minded pet owners who valued expert grooming care and advice.
Their thirst for knowledge and excellence led them to undergo extensive training and education to hone their skills as groomers. This commitment to continuous improvement not only shaped their individual journeys but laid the foundation for what would become Barking Butler Grooming Studio.
Passionate about more than just primping paws and fluffing fur, Lynnie and Charlotte are on a mission to raise the standards of grooming and owner education. It's not just about making dogs look fabulous – it's about ensuring their well-being is at the forefront of every grooming session. They believe in a holistic approach that transforms a routine grooming appointment into a journey of care and education.
In 2023, the pair, joined by International Master Groomer Angela Anderson ICMG, embarked on a groundbreaking venture – the creation of Companion Animal Grooming Institute of Australia. This institute stands as a beacon for grooming education, offering industry-leading training to the next generation of Australian groomers.
Founded on a passion for education and excellence, CAGIA reflects Lynnie and Charlotte's unwavering commitment to elevating the standards of grooming and companion animal care in Australia.
Lynnie's vast professional business experience before entering the industry and later, extensive training with top groomers in Melbourne and New Zealand, has uniquely shaped her perspective in the grooming world and positions her as a guiding force at Barking Butler, leading with impeccable grooming standards and teaching with encouragement and finesse. Meanwhile, Charlotte, in a past life as a WAAPA graduate, later achieving her postgraduate Honours in Classical Violin from the University of Tasmania where she commenced her Master of Business Administration, now serves as grooming business virtuoso to BB and supporter of the grooming community, committed to helping fellow groomers thrive and serving as the 2022/2023 President of the Dog Groomers Association of Western Australia.
In their most recent pursuit of professional development, Lynnie and Charlotte traveled to Malaysia in 2024 to further their grooming study, graduating from the Asian Fusion course at Pets Icon International Grooming Academy. It was here Lynnie also completed a Show Grooming Course and was invited to partake in the prestigious Teacher Program training, undergoing an additional specialised teaching course with Master Groomer Valerie Khoo, NCMG. The pair also traveled to the United Kingdom to train under legendary Master Groomer Pammie Carmichael-Hogg IPG, an international name in Asian Fusion grooming, in advanced styling and technique.
Lynnie and Charlotte share a commitment to excellence that extends to their furry clients beyond the grooming table and a dedication to making a positive impact in the industry they adore.
The Inspiration

Also known as: “Geemu”, “Justin Gieber”.
The original and in her opinion, the best. Introducing our four-legged aristocrat, Ginny - a dog so refined she prefers sipping herbal tea with humans over engaging in canine chit-chat.
Ginny has an infuriatingly regal pace, defying commands at a sloth-like speed. It's as if she believes there's been a grand mix-up, and she's the canine incarnation of Queen Elizabeth, entitled to be the one giving orders, not taking them.
Ginny hasn't quite forgiven us for introducing Millie into her royal court, and the arrival of that small human baby in to the Barking Butler family only raised eyebrows higher. It's a saga of canine drama fit for the grandest of Shakespearean tales! Although, while she might not confess it, we do believe there is a sneaky soft spot in her heart for Millie…

Also know as: “Meemu”, “Meow-Moo”
Presenting Millie, a champion of licks and zoomies, capable of orchestrating dramatic yawns that could rival a Broadway performance and wake up the entire neighbourhood! This fluffy dynamo, the cordless vacuum of choice for crumbs under the high-chair, flaunts a glamorous set of 4-6 remaining teeth, bringing a touch of snaggletooth-chic to every bark.
When it comes to bedtime antics, Millie is a pro at seeking out the fluffiest places. Picture this: a whirlwind of fur spinning around 20 times before settling down for a night of snuggles.
In Millie's world, most animals, especially horses and dogs on TV, are Public Enemy Number One - sworn foes that must be vanquished from the living room. The reasons behind this canine paranoia are still a baffling mystery, currently under investigation with her canine therapist.
